FirstWorks is committed to showcasing the creative talents of Rhode Island's own artists, and to presenting "firsts in the arts" to Rhode Island audiences from a worldwide array of artistic innovators.
We offer financial, creative, and production support to artists, and welcome proposals for performances that:
- - premiere new work
- - contribute to re-defining your artistic genre
- - cross genres, forge new collaborations or bend the rules
- - showcase work from our richly diverse Rhode Island communities
- - engage our local community and deepen participation
FirstWorks offers many opportunities for artists to showcase their work:
Headline Performances: Booked six to eighteen months in advance.
Co-presented Performances: Collaborations to produce, present and promote new work.
New Media Artists: Installations, video and multi-media performances are presented annually at our Pixilerations new media showcase. Click here to join our Pixilerations mailing list.
JumpStarts: Performances in venue lobbies and in the streets of Providence turn each FirstWorks performance into a festival. These opportunities are best suited to groups who reside in or near Rhode Island.
